Elegoo has launched the M1 Ultra, a wireless 3D scanner that Elegoo says is accurate to 0.02 mm. It has five scanning modes, and Elegoo says it can scan black and metal surfaces without coating powder. It went on preorder on 29 October at an early bird price of 1,599 dollars, which is 100 dollars under its 1,699 dollar list price. Elegoo says preorders ship before 10 November.

What Elegoo is claiming
The headline number is accuracy. Elegoo rates the M1 Ultra at up to 0.02 mm, and it writes the volumetric figure as 0.02 mm plus 0.06 mm per metre. So the stated tolerance grows as the object gets longer. Elegoo’s own footnote says the number comes from lab conditions, using a pair of 100 mm spheres, and that real results can vary with temperature, vibration and other factors.
The second claim is range. There are five scanning modes. Three use blue laser lines, in sets of 34, 7 or 1. The fourth uses infrared structured light, and the fifth is a blue laser mode that needs no markers. Elegoo says it handles objects from 5 x 5 x 5 mm up to 4000 x 4000 x 4000 mm.
The third claim is about hard surfaces. Elegoo says the M1 Ultra scans black and metal surfaces without coating powder, so those parts wouldn’t need a coat of powder first. It’s Elegoo’s claim. Planet 3DP hasn’t tested it.
Speed is the last one. Elegoo puts the 34 line mode at up to 2,040,000 points per second and the scanner at up to 100 frames per second. It also says laser scans work outdoors in up to 110,000 lux of light.
The five scanning modes
| Mode | Speed | Accuracy | Working distance |
|---|---|---|---|
| 34 crossed blue laser lines | 2,040,000 points per second | Up to 0.02 mm (volumetric 0.02 mm plus 0.06 mm per metre) | 200 to 600 mm |
| 7 parallel blue laser lines | 840,000 points per second | Up to 0.02 mm | 160 to 400 mm |
| Single blue laser line | 120,000 points per second | Up to 0.02 mm | 200 to 600 mm |
| Infrared structured light | 6,451,200 points per second | Up to 0.05 mm (volumetric 0.05 mm plus 0.1 mm per metre) | 170 to 1200 mm |
Light limits differ by mode. Elegoo rates the 34 line and 7 line modes for up to 110,000 lux, the single line mode for up to 100,000, and infrared for up to 80,000 with its filter fitted. That filter comes in the box.
Resolution runs from 0.05 to 2 mm in the laser modes and 0.1 to 2 mm in infrared. The smallest object is 5 x 5 x 5 mm with the lasers and 150 x 150 x 150 mm in infrared. At its widest, the view is 621 x 480 mm at 600 mm away in laser mode, and 1121 x 960 mm at 1200 mm in infrared.
Frame rates depend on the link. Wired to a PC, Elegoo quotes up to 80 frames per second at 1920 x 1200 and up to 100 at 1520 x 1200. Over WiFi those drop to 50 and 60. Infrared mode tops out at 30.

Who Elegoo is pitching it to
Elegoo’s own line is “Scan Anywhere. Measure Precisely.” It describes the M1 Ultra as an all in one wireless 3D scanner with metrology grade accuracy of 0.02 mm. It’s also selling it in bundles with two of its own printers.
Check your computer before you order. Elegoo recommends Windows 10 or 11 (64 bit) with an Intel Core i7 13th gen or newer, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 or better with 8 GB of video memory, and 32 GB of RAM. On a Mac it recommends macOS 14 or later, an Apple M4 or later and 32 GB of RAM.
The minimum is an Intel Core i7 7th gen, an NVIDIA card with 6 GB of video memory and 16 GB of RAM. On a Mac, it’s macOS 14 or later on an Apple M2 with 16 GB.
Not tested by Planet 3DP. Nick hasn’t used the M1 Ultra, so nothing on this page is a hands on result. Every figure is Elegoo’s own, from its US store on October 29, 2026.
