What the UltiMaker Factor 4 Plus is
The Factor 4 Plus is UltiMaker’s large format industrial FDM machine, and it has taken the place of the Factor 4 in the Factor series. It is a floor standing enclosed cabinet, 695 by 605 by 1287 mm assembled and 120 kg, with a 330 by 240 by 300 mm build volume. UltiMaker publishes no price for it: the page offers a quote request rather than a figure, which is normal for machines at this end of the market.
Dual extrusion and swappable print cores
The print head is a dual extrusion direct drive unit with swappable print cores, an auto nozzle lifting system and flood detection. It takes the existing UltiMaker core range: AA+ in 0.25, 0.4 and 0.8 mm, BB in 0.4 and 0.8 mm, CC+ in 0.4 and 0.6 mm, HT in 0.6 mm, and DD in 0.4 mm in selected regions. Machines ship with two AA+ 0.4 mm cores and one CC+ 0.6 mm core. Filament is 2.85 mm, and layer resolution runs from 60 to 400 microns depending on the core and profile, with XYZ resolution quoted as 6.25, 7.8 and 2.5 microns.
Heat and the controlled chamber
The print cores reach 340 °C, the heated bed 120 °C, and the build chamber is actively temperature controlled up to 70 °C. UltiMaker’s argument for the active chamber is that holding the ambient temperature steady through the whole build envelope reduces internal stress and thermal shock as layers are laid down, which is what makes engineering materials practical rather than merely possible.
Built for uptime
The automated material bay pre-loads and switches between up to six spools and keeps them in low humidity storage with humidity monitoring, so long jobs do not stop for a spool change and filament does not sit absorbing moisture. An H-bridge gantry carries the head, and UltiMaker says it ran 15,000 hours of lifetime testing on it. There is a replaceable HEPA H13 filter, which the printer asks you to change about every 1,500 print hours, a red emergency stop button, dual onboard processors, and a 7 inch 1024 by 600 touchscreen mounted high enough to watch the first layers. Peak power draw is 600 W.
What we have not verified
Every figure above is UltiMaker’s own, taken from its Factor 4 Plus page on 18 October 2026. Planet 3DP has not tested this machine. UltiMaker publishes no print speed figure for it, so none is listed here, and no price, so the specification table leaves that blank rather than carrying an estimate.
