The xTool X1 is a 55W CO2 laser that takes swappable laser sources, and it goes on sale on 28 October 2026. Deposits are open now. xTool has published a full spec sheet, and its X1 page now shows launch prices from 3,399 dollars. Here’s everything the company has actually confirmed, and the gaps it has left.

Worth knowing: Nobody at Planet 3DP has used an X1. We have not been sent one, and there are no affiliate links on this page, so nothing below is a test result or a paid placement. Every fact here comes from xTool’s own published page.

Launch prices: 3,399 and 3,999 dollars

xTool’s X1 page now shows launch prices. They sit in an image in the page’s Exclusive Launch Price section rather than in its text, so here they are with the date we checked.

One thing doesn’t match. The same page’s FAQ still says xTool will reveal all available configurations and prices when final payment opens on 28 October. So treat these as launch prices until then. We’ll check them again on the day and update this page with the date.

What xTool has confirmed is the shape of the range. There are two starting configurations. X1 Single CO2 comes with the 55W CO2 laser head only. X1 CO2 plus Diode Galvo comes with that head and the 20W Diode Galvo Module.

One machine, five laser sources

This is the part that makes the X1 unusual. Every X1 starts with the 55W CO2 head. xTool calls the swapping system Laser Swap, and it lets you add other sources to the same machine instead of buying another one.

There’s a catch, and it matters before you choose a configuration. The 20W Diode Galvo Module is required before you can add UV, MOPA or fiber. If you buy the CO2 only version you can add the diode module later, but you can’t skip it.

Here is what xTool says each source is for.

xTool X1 specification block, checked October 14, 2026.
SourcexTool says it is best forSpot size
55W CO2Cutting wood, acrylic, leather and paper0.175 x 0.175 mm
20W DiodeFast detail on wood, leather, dark acrylic and card. Marks painted or coated metal0.16 x 0.14 mm to 0.225 x 0.22 mm
5W UVThe only source that does glass inner engraving. Low heat, so clean edges on heat sensitive material0.017 x 0.017 mm
30W FiberDetailed metal engraving, embossing and colour engraving0.05 x 0.05 mm
60W MOPAHarder metal work than the fiber source, with finer detail0.04 x 0.04 mm

The numbers xTool publishes

The work area is not one number, because it changes with the source and the job. xTool gives three.

Two of those are worth sitting with. The machine weighs 60 kg, so it’s a bench or a stand, not a desk. And the galvo sources run ten times faster than the CO2 head, which is the whole reason for having both in one box.

xTool X1 photos

These are xTool’s own images, from its X1 page and its launch press release. We haven’t used an X1, so none of them are our photos. Tap one to open it full size.

How it moves

xTool calls the motion system Hybrid Motion. In its own words it is a 4 axis flying galvo system that synchronises the gantry’s X and Y motion with dual galvo mirrors. The gantry carries the head across the bed while the mirrors steer the beam inside that area.

That’s how you get 6,000 mm/s across a bed this size. A normal galvo laser is fast but small. A normal gantry laser is big but slower. This one tries to be both.

Positioning is handled by what xTool calls the Automated Creation System. Three cameras find your material, and an AutoLift base sets the bed height for you.

Class 1, with two exceptions

The X1 is rated Class 1, which means the beam stays inside the box in normal use. xTool’s own footnote names two setups where that stops being true, and they are easy to miss.

SetupWhat xTool says
5W UV source fittedClass 3B radiation is accessible during optical alignment
With the Intelligent Conveyor FeederThe X1 operates as a Class 4 laser device

xTool says both of those are for trained professionals only. If you’re planning to buy the conveyor on day one, budget for eye protection and read the manual before you switch it on.

What we still do not know

A spec sheet isn’t a review, and this one has holes. These are the things xTool hasn’t said, and we’re not going to guess them.

Gaps in xTool’s published material as of October 14, 2026.
Open questionWhy it matters
Whether the launch prices hold after 28 OctoberxTool’s FAQ still says prices are revealed when final payment opens
The full list of configurationsOnly X1 Single CO2 and X1 CO2 plus Diode Galvo are named so far
Accessory pricesThe conveyor, work stand, rail and honeycomb panel are all separate
The CO2 cutting areaOnly engraving, glass and embossing areas are published
Warranty and regional availabilityNothing stated beyond the US store
How it actually cuts and engravesNobody outside xTool has run one. Spec sheets flatter machines

If you want the laser you can buy today instead, the Bambu Lab R1 is a 55W CO2 machine that is already shipping, and two outlets have reviewed it.

Common questions

How much does the xTool X1 cost?

xTool’s X1 page shows launch prices of 3,399 dollars for X1 Single CO2 and 3,999 dollars for X1 CO2 plus Diode Galvo (checked 15 October 2026). Its FAQ still says all configurations and prices are revealed when final payment opens on 28 October 2026 at 6:00 PM PDT. The deposit is 100 dollars and it is refundable until you pay the balance.

When does the xTool X1 ship?

xTool says shipping starts on 29 October 2026, and that launch stock is limited. It also says shipping priority goes by when an order is completed, counting both final payments and direct purchases.

Is the 20W diode module included?

It depends which version you buy. X1 Single CO2 has the 55W CO2 head only. X1 CO2 plus Diode Galvo has both. You need the diode module before you can add the 5W UV, 60W MOPA or 30W fiber source, so xTool recommends it if you plan to expand.

What can the xTool X1 cut?

xTool lists a maximum cut of 18 mm basswood and 20 mm acrylic on the 55W CO2 head. It lists wood, acrylic, fabric, leather and paper as cuttable, and wood, acrylic, metal, glass, leather, plastic, rubber, silicone and ceramic as engravable.

Is the xTool X1 safe to use at home?

It is rated Class 1 in its standard form, so the beam is enclosed. Two setups change that. With the 5W UV source fitted, xTool says Class 3B radiation is accessible during optical alignment. With the Intelligent Conveyor Feeder, it says the machine operates as a Class 4 device. Both are meant for trained users with proper eye protection.

Want the X1 verdict first? We will check the prices again on 28 October, then update this page once the machine has been run. The channel gets the video.
